Question:The IBM ThinkPad T60 battery will not charge using the generic power supply. Why is that, and can I bypass it.
please, help me ! thanks!
Answer:Probably because the voltage is wrong.Possibly because the polarity is wrong . If this is the case you may have damagfed the laptop.Unlikely but possibly the connector on the end of the wire is wrong and isn't making contact. Or that the new power supply was DOA.There's nothing special about Dell power supplies that mean a non-IBM one won't work. If it was sold as suitable for a IBM then it shoudl work. If it was a real generic one (as in you can change the ends, change the voltage, change the polarity) then you could have either of the first two problems. Or you battery dead.if the cause is battery you should buy new and high quality IBM ThinkPad R40 battery.
hope this words can help you.
